WHO IS ILMAMUSI?
ILMAMUSI Mukogodo Forest Association is a registered Community Forest Association (CFA) responsible for the management of the Mukogodo Forest Reserve under a Management Agreement with the Kenya Forest Service (KFS). Mukogodo forest is the largest forest in Laikipia County, covering a vast 30,189 hectares of natural forest. The forest is a national water tower and is one of a dozen remaining indigenous forests in Kenya.
WHAT DID THE MCW GRANT SUPPORT?
Through the MCW grant, Ilmamusi Community Forest Association (CFA) enhanced Mukogodo forest as a sustainable tourism destination. Notable achievements included the procurement of portable toilets at campsites, revenue-sharing agreements with the Kenya Forest Service, and collaborations with local tourism facilities. These efforts will contribute to a more sustainable managed and well-protected Mukogodo forest.
